What makes a website convert?
Ask most business owners what a converting website needs and they'll describe aesthetics: a modern look, nice photography, a slick animation. Those things help, but they're rarely what separates a site that converts from one that doesn't.
Conversion comes from clarity and friction — clarity about what the visitor should do next, and how little friction stands between deciding to act and actually doing it. A single clear call to action outperforms five competing ones. A two-field contact form outperforms a ten-field one. A price or process explained upfront outperforms one hidden behind a "contact us to find out" wall.
Design still matters — it builds trust and signals credibility — but it's the second layer, not the first. The first layer is always: does this page make the next step obvious?
